What Does Antioxidant Mean on a Skincare Label?
An ingredient that neutralises free radicals, the unstable molecules produced by sun and pollution. Vitamin C, vitamin E, green tea and resveratrol are the common ones.
On the label
Often on the front. Vitamin E (tocopherol) is in almost everything because it also protects the formula itself.
What it does not mean
It does not replace sunscreen. It is a daytime companion to it, not an alternative.
