Six places that show your age before your face does
Almost every routine stops at the jawline. The places below get the same sun, the same dry air and none of the attention, which is why they are usually the first thing to give the game away.
The neck
Thinner skin than your face, fewer oil glands, and it spends its life outdoors while the face gets the hat and the sunscreen. Whatever you are putting on your face, keep going down. It takes no extra time and it is the single most noticeable one on this list.
The backs of your hands
They sit on the steering wheel in the sun for years and get washed a dozen times a day, which strips them faster than anything you do deliberately. They are also the part of you that other people look at most while you are talking, which is not obvious until somebody points it out.
The chest
Open collars, summers, and skin thin enough to show every bit of it. The fine vertical lines that appear here come from a mix of sun and sleeping on your side, and both are worth knowing about because one of them you can change tonight.
The skin around the eyes
The thinnest skin on the body, and the first place dryness reads as tiredness rather than dryness. Most people respond by putting concealer over it, which sits in the texture and makes it more obvious. Hydration first, then makeup, in that order.
Elbows and knees
Rough, dry and permanently forgotten. Nobody is judging you on your elbows, but they respond faster than anywhere else to being included, because they have been getting nothing at all.
Lips and the edges around them
Lips have no oil glands, so they dry out first and they show it. The fine lines around them are a mix of dryness and years of the same expressions, and the dry half of that changes with attention.
