Skin That Feels Tight by Evening: Why It Happens in NZ and What Fixes the Feel
A face that felt fine at breakfast and feels tight by dinner is losing water to the air all day. Here is what is going on, and the two changes that stop it.
What it looks like
Comfortable in the morning, drawn and papery by evening, with makeup that has gone patchy over the cheeks. Sometimes a faint shine that is tightness rather than oil.
What tends to be behind the look
Water leaves skin all day, faster in wind, heated offices and dry southerlies. A morning routine of humectant serums with nothing over them can make it worse: the humectant pulls water to the surface and the air takes it.
What helps the look
An occlusive or emollient layer over your morning hydration, even a light one. A humidifier in a heated bedroom. Drinking water helps you; it does not change your face much. At night, a hydrating serum under a proper cream.
What does not
Layering more watery products. Misting your face through the day without anything over it. Switching cleansers every week.
Where a PDRN roller serum fits
At night, roll the PDRN serum over the whole face and neck, then seal it with a cream while the skin is still damp. Skin that goes to bed hydrated and sealed starts the next day with more to lose, and the roller makes that one step rather than three.
A routine that takes a minute
- Cleanse with something that does not leave skin squeaky.
- Roll the serum on damp skin, once over each area.
- Cream on top within a minute, while the serum is still there.
- In the morning, a light cream under sunscreen, not a serum alone.
Where Silka fits
Silka is a PDRN serum with a microneedle roller head on the bottle, made and shipped from New Zealand. The roller is the most practical way we know to put PDRN on every night: the head spreads the serum evenly across face and neck, nothing is left behind in your palm, and the whole routine takes about a minute, which is the part that makes a habit last.
