Fine Lines Around the Eyes: What Actually Helps the Look, and What Does Not (NZ)
Why the skin around the eyes shows fine lines first, what makes them look softer within days, what only sounds like it does, and a short routine for New Zealand skin.
What it looks like
Thin, criss cross lines at the outer corners and under the lower lashes, sharper in the morning and after a day in the wind. They show in photos taken from the side and in low sun.
What tends to be behind the look
The skin here is the thinnest on the face and has almost no oil of its own, so it dries out first and shows every crease of expression. Dehydration exaggerates the lines; so does squinting in New Zealand light without sunglasses.
What helps the look
Hydration, consistently. A well hydrated surface looks smoother because the tiny creases fill out with water. Sunglasses outdoors. A rich cream at night over a hydrating serum. Sleeping on your back if you can manage it.
What does not
Eye creams that promise to erase lines. Anything that stings this close to the eye. Rubbing. Products with a number of years on the front.
Where a PDRN roller serum fits
Roll the PDRN serum lightly over the cheekbone and the outer corner, never on the lid or within the bony rim of the socket. Once over, no pressure. The head puts an even film of serum where fingers tend to drag, and the plumped look it leaves is the look people are after here.
A routine that takes a minute
- Cleanse and pat dry, gently around the eyes.
- Roll the serum over cheekbones and outer corners, once, lightly.
- Press a rich cream over the eye area with a fingertip.
- Sunglasses tomorrow. Every day you are outside.
Where Silka fits
Silka is a PDRN serum with a microneedle roller head on the bottle, made and shipped from New Zealand. The roller is the most practical way we know to put PDRN on every night: the head spreads the serum evenly across face and neck, nothing is left behind in your palm, and the whole routine takes about a minute, which is the part that makes a habit last.
